I live in Essex Junction with my husband and two young daughters. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, gardening, cooking and baking, going to concerts, reading about living a healthy lifestyle, going to farmers’ markets, hiking, and spending time on the lake.

Education and Professional Experiences

I received my Master’s degree (Master of Science for Teachers) at the State University of New York in Plattsburgh, and my bachelor’s degree in 2002 from Castleton State College. I began teaching high school in 2007 in New York State prior to moving back to Vermont. I am currently in my 11th year teaching and couldn’t be happier than to be teaching in the Winooski School District. Additionally, I am also a certified holistic health coach through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition.

What has been your greatest learning experience? (in or out of school)

My greatest learning experience has been becoming a mother. My daughters have taught me the meaning of unconditional, infinite, and limitless love. Being a mother helps me to also be a better educator; knowing that each one of my students is someone’s child—and fully understanding the power and responsibility of that–is paramount. Being a parent makes me appreciate every moment, not sweat the small stuff, live a healthy lifestyle, and appreciate life and all that it has to offer.

Who do you admire and why?

I admire my parents very much. I admire their undying dedication to their three children, and teaching us the importance of family, responsibility, perseverance, respect, determination, and love. I admire them for teaching me the importance of one’s health and for helping me to appreciate my own health and knowing to never take it for granted. They have always put their children before anything else, and for that I will be eternally grateful.

What do you love about your current WSD position and the WSD community?

I am so excited to be part of the Winooski School District! I’m incredibly happy to be back in my home state of Vermont living my passion for teaching health and wellness. I love the Winooski community, and am very excited to have the opportunity to help guide students to realize the power they have over their own health and well-being. I hope my passion and enthusiasm for teaching health will expand out  into our amazing community.
