In the winter, I love watching sports, especially college basketball. In the summer, I enjoy being outside, especially boating on Lake Champlain.

Education and Professional Experiences
I am a native Vermonter who grew up in Shelburne. I attended CVU high school where I played soccer and basketball. I spent a semester studying architecture at RPI in Troy, NY, which is where I realized I wanted to pursue a career working more with people and less with computers and drafting equipment. I then transferred back to UVM, where I received my bachelors degree in psychology, and eventually my masters degree in counseling. I spent my first year out of grad school working at Fayston Elementary School and Moretown Elementary School in Washington County, Vermont, before starting at JFK. I am currently finishing my third year here at JFK, a place that I absolutely love working! From my colleagues, to the students and their families, I love the people I’ve met, the experiences we’ve shared, and the learning I have done while working in such an amazing school district!

What has been your greatest learning experience? (in or out of school)
In just the three short years I have worked in Winooski, I have learned a tremendous amount about other cultures, customs, and people’s experiences. I feel very privileged to work where I do, as I feel that my experience has taught me more than any books could ever teach me.

Who do you admire and why?
I have an incredible amount of admiration for our students. Their thirst for learning, their dedication to their education, and their relentless drive is remarkable. Our students never give up, even when they face some tremendous challenges.

What do you love about your current WSD position and the WSD community?
Working as the Guidance Counselor at JFK Elementary School has been amazing! I love that I get to work in the classrooms, with small groups of students, and one on one with students. There is such an amazing group of young people at this school. I am so fortunate to be able to spend time with all of them throughout the week!
