Margaret ThomasI live in Winooski with my husband, Ken. We have two children, who went through JFK and graduated from Winooski High School. Our daughter Peg and her husband Chris live and work in the Boston area. Our son Patrick and his fiancée Erika live and work locally. I enjoy the outdoors, traveling, and spending time with family.

Education and Professional Experiences
I went to high school in Poultney, which is a small town in southern Vermont. After high school, I attended Castleton State College. After graduating from CSC, I moved to the Burlington area. I started working at WSD as a substitute teacher before I was hired as a Kindergarten teacher. I taught Kindergarten for six years. I am currently the teacher in the JFK Math Lab, which is a Math intervention classroom. I enjoy working with students from all grade levels and helping them understand the math that they are struggling with.

What has been your greatest learning experience? (in or out of school)
A greatest learning experience of mine has been that only you are responsible for your actions. The outcome (whether good or bad) relies on how you handle the situation or task.

Who do you admire and why?
I admire my parents. While raising nine children, they showed the importance of family and the benefits of hard work. As a result, we are still a close-knit family even though we are spread out over the country.

What do you love about your current WSD position and the WSD community?
My current position at JFK allows me to work with a wide range of students from all grade levels. I get to see and know more of the students! It also allows me to work with the teachers from all grade level teams.
