As the proud Superintendent of the Winooski School District, I welcome you to our website and the Winooski Schools’ community. Whether you are new to Winooski, or have always called Winooski home, Winooski schools are a source of pride. Integrated into the fabric of the Winooski community, our schools offer students a keen advantage to be a part of a diverse, multi-language culture and to learn in a student-centered environment that is preparing ALL students for success in career, college and in life.

Our schools are committed to providing an education that is relevant and meaningful to each student. Here, students have a voice and choice in their learning and are excited about the topics they are learning as they are tied to their interests and their futures. Students own their learning, are confident, and are willing to take on leadership roles.

Winooski schools are models for other communities. We understand how kids learn and have created classrooms where each student’s individual learning needs are supported. With small-sized classes, our teachers get to know each student and engage and challenge each student’s learning style and ability.

Winooski’s innovative approaches to learning, including project-based learning which takes a topic a student is interested in and ties it with the skills the student needs to develop in particular areas, including math, science and English, are helping students advance their learning. The schools are also using best practices to help students in math and in learning life skills like critical thinking and communications through the GXs and GPs. The schools are also supporting student’s personal growth with the school-wide expectations expressed in our innovative HEART initiative, and through our commitment to wellness which supports the whole student, mind, spirit and body.

We value and welcome community input and are committed to enhancing our parent connections and our community engagement through collaboration and community-building. We are truly fortunate to have a dedicated and committed Board that is highly supportive of the schools and accountable to the community. The Board has been recognized as a model for other districts in the state in how they govern and support their schools.
