JanPo 2019 Schedule

Dear Winooski High School students and families:

Winooski High School will hold our annual January Exposition of Learning, which we call JanPo, during the week of January 14-18. It is a time for students to demonstrate what they have learned in their classes during the fall. It is the final requirement for the semester and an important week for our community.

This year, there are some changes for JanPo. Each student will now present learning in three of our six Graduate Expectations (GXs). The six GXs are the major skills students will need to succeed in any area of life they choose. Students also must attend as an audience participant for three presentations during the week.

JanPo Daily Schedule

From Monday, January 14, through Thursday, January 17, high school activities will be from 8:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Breakfast will be available in the gym lobby at 8:45 a.m., before presentations start. Lunch is at the usual time. Students wanting a quiet place to work may be in the library from 8:00-11:00 a.m. and 12:00-3:00 p.m. when not in presentations.

Students will have individual schedules for the week, identifying when they are presenting and attending as audience participants. Your child will be able to show you their own schedule by Friday, January 11. Students only need to attend from the beginning of their first scheduled activity of the day until the end of their last scheduled activity. If not scheduled as a presenter or audience participant, students may arrive later than 9 a.m. or leave before 2 p.m.

Friday, January 18 is a make up day. Students who complete all expected activities by Thursday do not need to attend on Friday. Students who do not complete all three presentations and complete their audience participation during three other presentations MUST attend on Friday. Students who do not fulfill all expectations that week will not receive report cards or course credit until all requirements are completed.

If there is a snow day or school cancellation, the cancelled day’s schedule will happen on the next day back. Then each following day’s activities will happen one day later for the rest of the week. In case of a late start, JanPo activities will run from 9:45 to 3:00, with breakfast at 9:45 and presentations from 10:00 to 2:00 as scheduled. The 9:00 presentations will shift to 2:00-3:00 pm that same day.

School is closed for Martin Luther King Day on Monday, January 21. Semester 2 classes begin on Tuesday, January 22.

Please see the other side of this page for a visual schedule of the week. If you have questions, please call the high school office at 655-3530.

Sincerely,

Jean Berthiaume, principal
