Dear Families,
It has been a week of beautiful weather. The students are enjoying being outside in the morning and for recess each day. Several of our classes have chosen extra recess as their class celebration!
One important part of our job is to make sure that your students are safe each day. A few years ago we changed the entrance pattern to JFK. All families and students must enter through the main lobby in the morning and throughout the day. Sometimes our students try to slip in through the JFK exit door as adults leave in the mornings. Feel free to tell them no and remind them that they need to go to the main entrance! During the day it is vital that all adults sign in and wear a visitor’s sticker. This way we know who is in the building. If you need to pick up your child before 3pm, you need to call or come to the JFK office to get an early dismissal slip. All of these things help us know where our students are and who is in the building, with the goal of keeping all of our students safe and learning during the day.
We have 12 early dismissals left for the 2019-20 school year for parent teacher conferences and/or for professional development for the staff. We do have early dismissal activities for some of the early release days for families that sign up for them ahead of time. Here is the list of the days:
- Wednesday, September 18, 2019 – Early Dismissal at 12:15 with activities for students that signed up ahead of time
- Thursday, October 24, 2019 – Early Dismissal at 11:00 with activities for students that signed up ahead of time (WMHS Parent Teacher Conferences)
- Friday, October 25, 2019 – Early Dismissal at 11:00 with activities for students that signed up ahead of time (WMHS Parent Teacher Conferences)
- Thursday, November 21, 2019 – Early Dismissal at 11:00 for all students – NO activities. JFK Parent Teacher Conferences
- Friday, November 22, 2019 – Early Dismissal at 11:00 for all students – NO activities. JFK Parent Teacher Conferences
- Wednesday, December 11, 2019 – Early Dismissal at 12:15 with activities for students that signed up ahead of time
- Wednesday, January 8, 2020 – Early Dismissal at 12:15 with activities for students that signed up ahead of time
- Wednesday, February 12, 2020 – Early Dismissal at 12:15 with activities for students that signed up ahead of time
- Thursday, March 19, 2020 – Early Dismissal at 11:00 with activities for students that signed up ahead of time (WMHS Parent Teacher Conferences)

- Thursday, April 9, 2020 – Early Dismissal at 11:00 for all students – NO activities. JFK Parent Teacher Conferences
- Friday, April 10, 2020 – Early Dismissal at 11:00 for all students – NO activities. JFK Parent Teacher Conferences
- Wednesday, May 13, 2020 – Early Dismissal at 12:15 with activities for students that signed up ahead of time
It is vital that students are picked up on time if they have not signed up for activities, or if it is a day when there are no activities. All of the staff goes into afternoon activities and/or professional development after dismissal. If a student is picked up late, it means that a staff member is late for supervising the early dismissal activities and/or parent teacher conferences.
