Dear Families,

We have had our first frost, and the fall weather is beginning to get chilly. In Vermont, this means that winter and snow are right around the corner!

Winooski students, Grades 3 and up, have a fantastic opportunity to learn how to cross-country skiing. Ski Cubs is an educational program of the Catamount Trail Association and focuses on introducing Vermont students to cross-country skiing. The program aims to empower Vermont youth to enjoy being active and outside in the winter. The program started in 2011 in collaboration with 5 Burlington organizations. That year, 60 Vermont students learned how to cross-country ski. Since then, the program has grown and now runs throughout Vermont offering  cross-country skiing at Bolton Valley Nordic Center and Sleepy Hollow Ski Center

Winooski students (Grades 3 and up) have the opportunity to participate in the weekend Ski Cubs Program. The program runs for six Saturdays in January and February, from 9am-12pm at Bolton Valley Nordic Center. The program is free, and the program provides equipment, instruction, ski pass, and snacks. CTA offers bus transportation to and from the O’Brien’s Center. All the skiing instruction the students receive is done by volunteers. Each Saturday includes fun games on skis, skill building, environmental education, and exploring the Bolton Valley Nordic trails.

Read through all of the information linked with your student. If they are interested in participating in this amazing opportunity, please fill out and return the waiver and  interest form to the JFK office.

Have a fantastic weekend
