Dear Families,
There is snow on the ground already, and the rain and snow kept coming this week! Please make sure you send your student(s) to school with the clothing necessary to make outdoor recess safe and enjoyable. With a snow day occurring the Friday before break, you should now know whether or not you received the “no school call” from the district. If you had any trouble receiving that alert, please let the JFK main office know. 655-0411
The Winter Performance is December 13th. This year, JFK will be offering a free nursery for children birth to 4 years old during the JFK Winter Performance. The nursery will be staffed by Liz Parris, our school nurse, PTO parent volunteers and middle and high school student volunteers. Attached to this letter you will find a registration form. Please fill it out and return to the school by Tuesday December 11th. Registration is required and we will only take the first 50 children that sign up. If there are spaces still available the night of the performance, we will take walk-ins until we reached our maximum amount of 50 children.
We will provide the following activities for the kids:
- Snack time(provided by JFK)
- Indoor games
- Coloring
Drop Off:
You will drop your child(ren) off at the preschool entrance located in the middle school wing. Your child will be given a name tag with their name, your name and your phone number. It will be placed on the back of their shirt. You will be given a matching name tag. Hang on to this name tag as you will need it along with a valid ID to pick up your child(ren) when the performance is over.
Please include any diapers, wipes, baby bottles, formula, extra change of clothes etc that will be needed.
PICK UP:
In order to keep the children as safe as possible during pick up time, we are going to ask that you follow the rules below:
- Only one parent/guardian whose name is listed on the registration form should come to the same set of preschool doors to pick them up
- Be sure to have your name tag and ID ready
- Please do not call out for your child or come into the preschool searching for them. We will have an adult at the door that will verify your name tag and ID and then call the child to come to you.
- Once you have your child, please exit the area as soon as possible
- Please pick up your nursery child(ren) before going to get your other child(ren) from their classrooms
The nursery will be in the preschool room in the middle school wing.
On December 20th, Old Spokes Home will be giving free bikes to students 3-8 years old. You can fill out the paper and send it back to school, call Old Spokes, or go online and register. Students that are registered will go to the Sustainability Academy on December 20th at 5:30pm and will get a free bike! When you fill out the paperwork, it asks if your student qualifies for free or reduced lunch. All students at JFK qualify for free lunch. If your student gets a bike, and needs a helmet please let our guidance counselors know; Grace Holcomb for Kindergarten – 2nd grade, and Sarah Murphy for 3rd – 5th grade.
Our 2nd year of the Winter Transportation Pilot began this past Monday. It will run from November 26th through March 29th. The busses are for students that live 3/4 of a mile or more away from school. There will be 2 buses, doing 2 runs each, at 3 different pick-up locations. The bus stops will be at:
- O’Brien Community Center (OCC): 2 pickups-7:15 & 7:45
- The corner of Elm Street & Forest: 2 pickups-7:15 & 7:45
- The corner of Elm & Mallets Bay: 2 pickups-7:15 & 7:45
