Dear Families,

Welcome to 2020! I hope that everyone had a wonderful break and was able to ring in the New Year surrounded by people you love. The staff was back January 2nd ready to welcome students back and excited to start their learning in the New Year.

January marks a turning point in the year for most elementary schools. Our longer vacations are behind us, and school develops into a steady pattern. At the same time, the weather gets colder, and students are inside more often. This can result in the spread of germs and illness.

We ask that students who have a fever stay home until they are fever free, without any medicine, for 24 hours. If your student is vomiting, please keep them home until they do not vomit for 24 hours. Sending your student to school when they are sick spreads germs to students and staff and can have a big ripple effect. We want our students here every day to learn and grow, but know that when they are sick they need to be home resting and getting better. Remember, if your student is out for 3 or more days in a row, we need a doctor’s note to make those absences excused.

We are ready and excited for a fantastic 2020 at JFK. Our students, staff, and community are fantastic, and we know that this year is going top be amazing.

Have a fantastic weekend

Sara Raabe

JFK Principal
