Dear Families,
What a fantastic start to the school year! It was wonderful to have students in the building and to watch them begin to make connections with the adults and peers.
These first three days of school, teachers began their work on their First Six Weeks of school. These first six weeks, as a school, we focus on teaching students the expectations of the school in general, and in each specific space. Our district-wide expectations are HEART; Honest, Engaged, Appropriate, Responsible, and Timely. Adults have been acknowledging students when they see them following an expectation with a heart token. Some of our classes already have their classroom heart jar halfway filled!
This year, JFK is lucky to have been awarded the CLiF grant. This grant allows the school to have guest speakers and authors into the school and gives students new books to take home. Grades K-3 will be participating in the grant. On Thursday, September 6th, we will be hosting our kick-off event in the library. Families are welcome to join their student during their grade’s kick off time:
- 8:30-9:15 1st grade and Multi-Age classroom
- 9:15-10:00 3rd Grade and Newcomer ELL Classroom
- 10:00-10:45 4th and 5th grade
- 10:45-11:30 2nd Grade
- 12:15-1:00 Kindergarten
This week, our preschool students had their orientations. Pre School starts on Tuesday. Thrive after school also begins on Tuesday!
Have a fantastic long weekend!
Sara Raabe
JFK Principal
