Dear Families,
Welcome to spring! This week we finally got a glimpse of warmer weather. With the warmer weather, and the earlier sunrise, we are seeing students at school earlier each day. Please remember that there is no supervision before 7:30. If students come to school before 7:30, there are not adults assigned to supervise. Also, students do not have to go to the lobby before going outside. There is supervision on the playground starting at 7:30, and students are welcome to go and play outside until 7:55.
Today you should receive your conference day and time for our spring conferences, if you haven’t already. If the day and time you received does not work for you, or you did not get your conference information, please contact your student’s teacher right away.
Last week you should have received a Family Input sheet. Please take some time to complete that sheet for each one of your students. Put as much information on it as possible, even if you think we already know. We are asking families to bring those sheets to give to classroom teachers during the April Conferences on April 11th and 12th. As a school, we start working on created balance class lists for the 2019-20 school year after April vacation.
It is the time of year where we start looking for feedback from our families about this school year at JFK. If you would like to fill out the survey electronically, the link is HERE, and it is posted on our JFK Facebook page. Teachers will also have paper copies of the survey to hand out at conferences. This survey generates great information that our JFK Leadership team uses over the summer to plan for next year. The more families that fill it out the better!
JFK Summer School will take place this year as follows:
- July 8th – 11th
- Monday – Thursday; 8:00 – 12:00
- For students in grades K-5 for the 2019-20 school year
- July 15th – 18th
- Monday – Thursday; 8:00 – 12:00
- For students in grades K-5 for the 2019-20 school year
- July 22nd – 25th
- Monday – Thursday; 8:00 – 12:00
- For students in grades 1st – 5th for the 2019-20 school year
- July 29th – August 2nd
- Monday – Thursday; 8:00 – 12:00
- For students in grades 1st – 5th for the 2019-20 school year
At Parent Teacher conferences in April, teachers will be talking to you about summer school sign up.
If you have, or know someone with, a child that will be 5 by September 1, 2019 mark May 6th and 7th for Kindergarten registration. People should call the front office to sign up for a specific time for registration.
Our WSD Capital Project Facility Tours are continuing. Please join us for a tour of our PreK-12 facility so we can we can show you the many improvements and system replacements that are long overdue to provide a safe, healthy and modern learning environment for our students. The Winooski School Board will be pursuing a municipal bond this May to pay for vital renovations and improvements to our facility and plan for projected student enrollment growth. Tours and Community Breakfast & Dinner dates are below:
- Community Breakfast & Tour: Saturday, April 13, 9-11 am in WSD Cafe
- Tour: Thursday, April 18, 5:30pm in WSD Library
- Community Dinner & Tour: Wednesday, May 1, 5:30pm

This year, our PTO will be hosting the first ever Community Yard Sale on May 18th 9:00am – 2:00pm. It is $20 for a 10×10 space or $25 for a 10×10 space and an 8ft table. Please contact Jessica Audette to book your space. ([email protected] or 802-373-1138)
