Dear Winooski Families and Staff,
To our disappointment, Winooski School District (WSD) must delay the opening of school until Monday, August 30, 2021. This three day delay will allow us the time to complete important Capital Project work that will ensure a safe, healthy and welcoming environment for both students and staff. We know that yet another change, after all the uncertainty we went through together last year, is disheartening and may cause hardships for you. My heartfelt apologies to you.
Our wonderful construction team at ReArch Company has gone above and beyond to get us ready to open our new K-2 pods and middle school despite labor shortages, long waits for various building materials, and a very short summer building season. Although ReArch got the Certificate of Occupancy on time we just need a few extra days to ensure proper safety procedures and accessibility.
Our entire staff is eagerly awaiting the start of school so they can welcome your students back to the building. We will be working tirelessly to make sure the building is a safe, healthy and welcoming environment for your children. The revised schedule is:
- The first student day will be Monday, August 30 from 8am to 3pm for students in kindergarten through grade 5.
- Review our student drop off and pick up procedures here.
- The mandatory WMHS orientation for students in grades 6, 9, and 10 will also take place on August 30 from 8am – 12:15pm.
- All students, including students in grades 7, 8, 11 and 12, will have a full school day on Tuesday, August 31 from 8am- 3pm. Please note the 2:50pm dismissal time to allow for student pick-up.

- Please note that Monday, February 28, Tuesday, March 1 and Wednesday, June 8 have been added as student days to make up for this three-day delay.
