Liz ParrisMy husband, RJ, and I have been married for 11 years and have 3 children~ Michaela, Samuel and Ashlyn. We have been licensed foster parents for the state of Vermont for a little over a year now and have had the blessing of sharing our home with 4 foster children at various points throughout. We love spending time with our families who live in Massachusetts and South Carolina and visit them as often as we can!

Education and Professional Experiences
In 2003 I graduated with my BSN from Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina. I began my first nursing job that summer on a cardiac floor at UMass Memorial Hospital in Massachusetts. The experience I gained there allowed me to spend the next 6 years of my life in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (aka Recovery Room) before becoming a part of the Winooski family as the Health Office Coordinator/School Nurse in February 2011.

What has been your greatest learning experience? (in or out of school)
to love unconditionally and always do good even when it is not necessary and never judge someone until you have walked a day in their shoes.

Who do you admire and why?
Without a doubt my grandmother-Carol Cammuso. Throughout my entire life she has demonstrated to me selflessness, enduring love and a passion for others and a desire to help people. She is one of the reasons I am who I am today.

What do you love about your current WSD position and the WSD community?
In my previous nursing careers you only took care of the patients “in that moment” and never got to see the outcomes of the work you did. That is why I love working here in this district. I have the amazing privilege of watching these kids grow, learn, and mature year after year. I get to see them learning different coping skills and realize that medicine doesn’t always have to be the first option in every situation. TLC is a huge part of my job and for those that know me well know it is my favorite part without doubt!
