For Parents
Assessment Plan — Our Local Comprehensive Assessment Plan details the common assessments we give to all of our students. We use the results from these assessments to screen for students who need additional support. We also use this data to monitor student growth and assess the effectiveness of our programs.
The plan is organized by grade level and tells you the type of assessment, when it is given, who we are assessing, and why we give this test.
Assessment Explainers
DIBELS — The Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills is an assessment of your child’s basic English reading skills. It consists of several one-minute tests. These tests are designed to show how automatic your child is with each skill. The more of these skills your child can do without thinking about it, the better they will be at understanding what they are reading.
Star —The STAR Assessment is a computerized test of reading comprehension and math. It consists of 34 questions and takes about 20 minutes to complete.
